DODGE, DROP AND DUNK: INDOOR SPORTS WINTER PROGRAMS

Dodgeball, pickleball and basketball are just some of the adrenaline-packed indoor sports you can get involved in at the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre (MIISC).

If you’re looking to stay active this winter, or just want a fun weeknight activity to do with your friends, you should come along and duck, dip and dive in a super league dodgeball tournament.

The 12-week competition, in partnership with Dodgeball Sydney, will return for another season of action on Wednesday evenings.

Women’s, mixed and men’s teams of all skill levels are invited to register for the tournament, and those new to the sport are welcome to come along and try dodgeball at an open evening on Wednesdays 26 June, and 3 and 10 July.

You can also drop your best shots at casual pickleball sessions or slam dunk your goals in a new 3v3 basketball scrimmage program.

The basketball scrimmage program will launch on Wednesdays 19 and 26 June for a series of fast-paced and high-scoring games.

Individuals and teams of three are welcome to drop in to play a casual game from 7-9pm.

And those of all ages can get involved in the increasingly popular pickleball, with casual pickleball day sessions on Mondays and Fridays and evening sessions throughout the week.

The low-impact paddle sport combines tennis, badminton and ping pong and is designed for everyone.

Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek encouraged locals to get their friends together and get involved in the exciting offerings.

“With so much happening at our indoor sports centre, there’s no excuse to stay at home this winter,” Mayor El-Hayek said.

“Our high-quality indoor courts mean exciting, fast-moving games, and no cancellations due to weather.”
