Heritage Rugby League hosted a special event on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, to officially launch the 2024 season and announce key new funding. Known for its annual multicultural rugby league tournaments, the organization works with 27 diverse communities to promote competition, cultivate role models, and unite people through sport.
The event took place at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence in Sydney Olympic Park and was attended by prominent figures including NSW Government Minister Steve Kamper, Heritage NSW CEO Javed Hamidi, NSWRL Head of Community Peter Clarke, CulturalPulse Founder Patrick Skene and the editor of the World Observer Mamdouh Sukkarieh.
Representatives from various community groups, media outlets, leaders, coaches, and a large number of players also gathered for the occasion. The event featured cultural performances, adding to the vibrant celebration of the new season and reinforcing the community’s involvement through rugby league.
In his speech, Minister Steve Kamper emphasised the government’s ongoing support for Heritage Rugby League, highlighting its value in encouraging young people to connect, share experiences, and learn about different cultures in Australia’s multicultural society. He also reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening community ties through sport, leadership, and cultural inclusion.
